Draw any part of Exmouth Gulf. Mareon shows what lives there and who uses it, runs the zoning scenarios for you, and recommends a plan you can defend.

First the data. Then the research on top.

Ocean planning is slow because the information is scattered. Habitat maps, species records, leases, fishing grounds and research papers sit with dozens of agencies and consultants. Mareon brings them together in one place and runs the planning calculations for any area you choose. It starts with Exmouth Gulf, using the database Oceanwise Australia built for the Protect Ningaloo campaign.

All the data on one map.

Habitats, depth, wildlife areas, leases, fishing grounds and heritage sites sit on one map. Each layer shows where it came from, and the research library is a click away.

  • Every dataset with its source
  • Layers from one site up to the whole ocean
  • Search inside every research paper
02

Understand

What is here now.

Pick any area. Mareon shows what lives there, who uses it, how much is already protected and what the research says about it.

  • Habitats, uses and protection
  • Your area compared with the whole gulf
  • Research on the habitats you found
03

Simulate

What if it changed.

Mareon tries the usual options for your area by itself. You can also set a zone type or let the optimiser design the whole network. Every result is kept so anyone can check it.

  • About 20 options tried automatically
  • Your own zone types and settings
  • Every result kept as evidence
04

Advise

A plan you can defend.

Mareon compares the options and recommends one. It explains why, says what is still missing and checks the government's 30 % target. The report includes every input.

  • A recommendation with its reasons
  • All options in one table
  • A PDF report and a link to share
One bucket

From one bay to the whole ocean.

Mareon starts with one bay in full detail. Each level outward adds wider context. When you pick an area, the calculations use every level that covers it.

An example

Should this part of the gulf be a sanctuary?

Every step is recorded. The optimiser is Marxan, the standard open-source tool for marine park planning, running on Oceanwise’s reviewed project. Anyone can rerun the result.

    Pick the place

Open the map of Exmouth Gulf. Turn on the layers you need, such as mangroves or prawn trawl grounds. Then draw your area, or click a point.

    02 · Understand

    Read the current state

Within a second, Mareon shows the habitats inside the area, the leases and fishing grounds it touches, what existing reserves already protect, and the research on those habitats.

    03 · Simulate

    Try the options

Mareon tries about 20 options: protecting the area, leaving it open, and different targets. Each result shows which targets it meets and what it costs other users.

    Get a plan

Mareon recommends the best option and explains why. It lists what is still missing and links to the research. You can save it, share it or email the report.
